Pedagogical Monitoring Survey
Last Updated: 02/02/2022
Application of the
survey (since 2020/2021 – 1st semester)
Rules in force
- Taking into account both the involvement and accountability of students in the quality of education, and the relevance of these Surveys to the evaluation processes required by the legislation in force, the pedagogical monitoring survey is compulsory participation.
- The pedagogical monitoring survey is activated when the response period of the first UC to end during the semester begins.
- The response period to the survey for each UC/Teacher(s) begins when the last 20% of the class period of each UC is reached. Examples: if the class period is 100 days, the student can start the response from the 80th day; if the class period is 50 days, the student can initiate response from the 40th day, and so on.
- During the survey response period students have the possibility to participate in the survey indicating that they do not want to respond to it by submitting a justification.
- In accordance with the Iscte Code of Academic Conduct (Article 8(f), students must “respond in a timely manner to all institutional inquiries that Iscte has to apply under both its quality assurance system and the requirements of national and international certification and accreditation agencies.
- Non-participation in the survey implies blocking access to the Curriculum in Fénix where there is at least one survey where at least 90% of the classes have already elapsed and the student has not yet responded to the respective survey.
- All blocks of the survey should be answered – including the blocks of surveys of teachers with whom they have not been contacted by choosing the “I have not attended classes” option – to avoid temporarily blocking access to the curriculum.
- The period of blocking access to the student curriculum view ends when there is no pending response survey that is covered by the previous point. Once the survey response collection period has ended, the blockade will be lifted, even if there is no response.
- Final submission of the survey is only possible after the students have responded to the general block of the survey, the survey blocks of all the CUs in which they are enrolled and at least one teacher in each UC.
Application of the
survey (since 2017/2018 – 2nd semester)
Rules in force
- The participation of students in pedagogical monitoring surveys is of the utmost importance for ISCTE-IUL, taking into account both the involvement and accountability of students in the quality of education, and the relevance of these surveys to the external evaluation processes required by the legislation in force. In accordance with the ISCTE-IUL Code of Academic Conduct (Article 8(d), students must “respond in a timely manner to all institutional surveys that ISCTE -IUL has to apply within both its quality assurance system and the requirements of national and international certification and accreditation agencies”.
- The response period to the survey for each UC/Teacher(s) corresponds to the last 20% of the class period of each UC. Examples: If the class period is 100 days, the student must respond within the last 20 days; if the class period is 50 days, the student must respond within the last 10 days, and so on (however if the UC lasts only 2 weeks, the survey will be available during the last week of classes).
- Final submission of the survey is only possible after the students have responded to the general block of the survey, the survey blocks of all the CUs in which they are enrolled and at least one teacher in each UC.
Application of the
survey (since 2015/2016 – 2nd semester)
Rules in force
- Taking into account both the involvement and accountability of students in the quality of education, and the relevance of these Surveys to the evaluation processes required by the legislation in force, the pedagogical monitoring survey is compulsory participation.
- The pedagogical monitoring survey is activated when the response period of the first UC to end during the semester begins.
- During the response period of the SURVEYS of the UC (last 20% of the duration of the class period of each UC) students have the possibility to participate in the survey answering that they do not want to respond to it, submitting only that answer.
- The non-participation in the survey implies the blocking in this semester of access to the Curriculum in Fénix (Order No. 9/2016 of the Rector of ISCTE-IUL, available in Fénix).
- However, if they have not responded to the UC surveys during their response period, or have replied that they do not want to respond to the survey, students have the possibility to avoid blocking their curriculum until the end of the semester if they in the meantime complete the missing UC surveys.
- The final submission of the survey for this semester is only possible after the student has responded to the general block of the survey, to all the Uc in which they are enrolled and to at least one teacher in each UC.
Application of the
survey (since 2014/2015 – 2nd semesterto
2015/2016 – 1st semester)
Response and blocking periods defined in THE

Rules in force
- The response period to a UC survey can last up to 40 days (see the green period pictured) and is defined taking into account the UC’s class period.
- Start and end of the response period to a UC’s survey
- The response period to the survey starts 30 days before the last day of classes in each UC, except for cases where the duration of the UC is less than this 30-day period. In this situation, the survey will be opened the day after the first day of classes of that same UC.
- The survey response period ends 10 days after the last day of UC classes.
- Taking into account both the involvement and accountability of students in the quality of education, and the relevance of these surveys to the assessment processes required by the legislation in force, the application of this survey is mandatory participation, including, of course, the possibility for the student to answer that he/she does not respond. The non-participation in this survey implies the temporary blocking of access to the Curriculum in Fénix (Order No. 73/2010 of the Rector of ISCTE/IUL).
- For students who do not respond to a UC survey, the period of blocking access to the curriculum is 20 days and is defined as follows:
- In the last 10 days of the UC survey response period, the blocking of access to the curriculum is applied, but if the student responds to the survey during this period the blockage is immediately eliminated (see image the orange marked period).
- Within 10 days of the end of the UC survey response period, the blocking of access to the curriculum is applied without the possibility of responding to the UC survey (see the red-marked period in the image.
- Since the access block to the curriculum is applied taking into account the response period of each UC, locks for multiple Uc scans may overlap.
- If they have not completed a SURVEY of a UC, students may continue to respond to the survey of the remaining Uc who are in their response period.
