Student Surveys

Survey support page on the student portal of iscte’s academic management platform, aka Fénix.

The surveys page is divided into three sections:

  • Open – In this section are all open surveys, i.e., whose response period is active and which the student has not yet accessed.
  • Open – In response – In this section are all open surveys already accessed by the student.
  • Closed / Submitted – In this section are all closed surveys, i.e., whose response period is no longer active, as well as all surveys submitted (answered).

The surveys page is divided into three sections:

Open – In this section are all open surveys, i.e., whose response period is active and which the student has not yet accessed.
Open – In response – In this section are all the open surveys that the student has already accessed.
Closed / Submitted – In this section are all the closed surveys, i.e., whose response period is no longer active, as well as all the submitted (answered) surveys.

These surveys are applied to new Iscte students in the various study cycles (1st cycle, 2nd cycle and 3rd cycle), addressing issues within the student, institution and course.

Surveys of new students are entitled “Survey of new students of the xº Cycle (zzzz/zzzz)“, in which “X” refers to the study cycle and “zzzz/zzzz” to the school year.

To respond to the survey, carry out the following procedures:

  1. Access iscte’s academic management platform in https://fenix.iscte-iul.pt
  2. Select the “Login Page” tab.
  3. Authenticate using iscte account credentials (e.g. xxnes@iscte-iul.pt and password).
  4. Go to the “Student tab.
  5. In the left side menu, choose the “Surveys” option.
  6. On the surveys page, in the line of the survey that the student intends to answer, click “Reply” (first access) or “Continue to reply” (subsequent accesses).
  7. On the course line, click “Reply“.
  8. Once you have answered all the required answer questions, click the “Confirm button.
  9. To end the survey, click the “Submit button.

Mandatory answer questions are identified as follows:

  • The text “‘ (Mandatory Response) is displayed. ” in the question box.
  • In the box where the question is asked, the space reserved for the answer is marked with a red line – the red line is removed after the student has indicated all the mandatory answers to the question..

Additional notes:

  1. The survey may only be submitted after all mandatory answer questions have been answered.
  2. In surveys of new students the response period is the period defined in the survey. No blocking period applies in these surveys.

Pedagogical modernisation surveys are entitled “Survey – General (x Semester of zzzz/zzzz)“, in which “x” refers to the semester (1st or 2nd) and “zzzz/zzzz” to the school year.

To respond to the survey, carry out the following procedures:

  1. Access iscte’s academic management platform in https://fenix.iscte-iul.pt
  2. Select the “Login Page” tab.
  3. Authenticate using iscte account credentials (e.g. xxnes@iscte-iul.pt and password).
  4. Go to the “Student tab.
  5. In the left side menu, choose the “Surveys” option.
  6. On the surveys page, in the line of the survey that the student intends to answer, click “Reply” (first access) or “Continue to reply” (subsequent accesses).

    After clicking on “Reply” or “Continue to respond” , the system provides the access page to the answer pages to questions about the course, about the CUs in which the student is enrolled in the semester of the survey and about the teachers.

    On the course line, click “Reply” to answer the questions pertaining to the course.

    On the line of each UC, click “Reply” to answer questions regarding the UC.

    In the line of each teacher, click on “Answer” to answer the questions related to the teacher(s) who taught the UC.
  7. After answering all the mandatory answer questions concerning the course, the Uc and the teachers, click on the “Confirm button.
  8. To end the survey, click the “Submit button.

Additional notes:

  1. The survey may only be submitted after all the mandatory answer questions concerning the course, the Uc and the teachers have been answered.
  2. The pedagogical monitoring survey is activated when the response period of the first UC to end during the semester begins.
  3. During the survey response period students have the possibility to participate in the survey indicating that they do not want to respond to it by submitting a justification.
  4. In accordance with the Iscte Code of Academic Conduct (Article 8(f), students must “respond in a timely manner to all institutional inquiries that Iscte has to apply under both its quality assurance system and the requirements of national and international certification and accreditation agencies.
  5. All blocks of the survey should be answered – including the blocks of surveys of teachers with whom they were not contacted by choosing the option “I did not attend classes” – to avoid temporarily blocking access to the curriculum.
  6. Non-participation in the survey implies blocking access to the Curriculum in Fénix where there is at least one survey where at least 90% of the classes have already elapsed and the student has not yet responded to the respective survey.
