A new feature has been created in Fénix – Teaching Hours – that allows the teacher to consult the class schedule of the curricular units he teaches. In the scope of this new feature, in the Class Calendar, new features were created that, in the case of shifts with more than one teacher, allow the teacher to indicate the classes he will teach and thus complete his Teaching Schedule. For more information, please refer to the Docent Time manual and changes to the Class Calendar (on this page), in particular with regard to Viewing Options, planned Teacher and Teaching and Non-Teaching features. |
Class calendar
To access the Class Calendar you must perform the following procedures:
- click on the Teaching portal;
- select the Implementation Period and
- click on the desired curriculum unit,
- click Class calendar in the left side menu.

The class calendar allows you to view all normal, replacement and extraordinary classes for the academic period of the curricular unit and indicates whether or not each class has the abstract inserted.
The normal (planned) classes are created by the secretariat of each school, in the planning of the school year, the replacement classes are created by the teachers of the curricular unit and the extraordinary classes are usually created by the teachers of the curricular unit or exceptionally by the secretariat of each school.
On this page can be shown two types of warnings:
- the notice that there are classes without summaries, in case there are classes that have occurred (whose date and time is earlier than the current one) that do not have summaries inserted and
- the warning that there are classes without teacher planned, in case there are classes whose Planned Teacher has not yet been indicated.

Planned teacher
The Fénix system presents the teacher’s schedule based on the shifts to which the teacher is associated. When there is more than one teacher associated with a shift, all these teachers see this turno, however, usually only one of the teachers will teach each of the classes. This teacher is the planned teacher of the class.
Thus, since the planned teacher of a class is the teacher who will predictably teach this class, teachers should take into account the following situations:
- when there is only one teacher associated with a shift, that teacher is automatically associated as a teacher planned for all classes in that shift and classes are automatically shown in the respective Teaching Schedule;
- when there is more than one teacher associated with a shift, the association of the teacher planned for each class of that shift is not automatic so that in this case, the association of the teacher planned to the classes must be carried out in one of the following ways:
- each teacher associated with the shift must access the Calendar of classes in Fénix and click on Teach in each class that you plan to teach (these classes will then be shown in the respective Teaching Schedule);
- the school secretariat, if you have this information, can indicate the teacher planned for each class (these classes will then be shown in the respective Teaching Schedule).
Notes
- The fact that a class has teacher A as a teacher planned does not prevent the possibility of professor B teaching the class and inserting the respective summary. In this case, the time of this class will be counted in the hours of classes taught by professor B.
- Classes that have not planned teachers are not shown at teacher times (only until they have a teacher planned) but are shown and managed in the class calendar.
Viewing Options
By default, when the teacher accesses the Class Calendar, all classes of the shifts assigned/associated with the teacher are shown.
To change the preview of the calendar of classes and summaries there are the following options:
- Classes: allows you to indicate whether you want to view All classes on the calendar, all classes That take place (starting at the current date and time) or all classes That have occurred without summary (starting at the current date and time);
- Class type: allows to indicate the type of classes to be viewed (Laboratory, Theoretical, etc.);
- Shift: allows you to indicate the shift of the classes to be viewed;
- Teacher: allows to indicate:
- o [teacher’s name]: shows the classes whose planned teacher is the teacher indicated;
- All: shows the classes with teacher planned;
- Others: shows all classes whose planned teacher is not himself;
- Include classes without teacher planned: allows you to indicate whether you want to see classes without teacher planned (yes is not checked by default).

Shifts with only one associate teacher
In shifts that have only one associate teacher, this teacher is automatically associated as the planned Teacher of all classes of the semester so these classes are shown with the planned Teacher column filled.

Shifts with more than one associate teacher
In the shifts that have more than one associate teacher, it is not possible to automatically define the planned Teacher of each class, when the teachers associated with the shift access the Class Calendar, the classes are shown without a planned Teacher. However, as soon as the teachers of these shifts indicate that classes will teach these classes they will:
- have Teacher planned (see teacher column planned);
- be shown in the respective planned Teacher’s Teaching Schedule.

Teach
This feature is visible in the Class Calendar in the shift classes that have more than one associate teacher.
It allows the teachers of the shift to indicate, class to class, the classes they will teach. In this way, the teacher is defined as the planned Teacher of the class and the class is shown in the respective Teaching Schedule.

Do not teach
This functionality is visible in the classes of the shifts that have more than one associate teacher and have already been associated by the teacher with his Teaching Schedule.
Allows the teacher to indicate that he will not teach the class. In this way, the teacher will no longer be defined as the planned Teacher of the class and another teacher associated with the shift may indicate that he will teach her.
After this procedure, the teacher may verify that these classes are no longer shown in their Teaching Schedule.
