Online Applications for 2nd Cycle

Online Applications

Introduction

From the academic year 2011/2012 the applications for master’s and graduate degrees from the Schools of Social and Human Sciences, Sociology and Public Policies and Technologies and Architecture are made online through the Fénix system.

If the future candidate for master’s and/or graduate is already a student or collaborator of ISCTE-IUL and holds the credentials of the FÉNIX System can directly access the Application Portal at FÉNIX.

Otherwise, to make an application, the future candidate must on the ISCTE-IUL (http://www.iscte-iul.pt/cursos/mestrados/como_candidatar.aspx) portal to indicate their email address. This address will probably be changed.

Immediately, the future candidate receives an email at the e-mail address indicated with the credentials to access the online application system in Fénix and must access the system and start the application within 2 hours.

Through the Phoenix system, the candidate can:

  • Create application
  • Consult your courses and applications
  • View application details
  • Fill in information and attach documents
  • Submit the application
  • Cancel the application
  • Remove the cancellation of the application

Online Application States

The possible states for an online application can be:

  • Pre-Candidate

State automatically assigned by the system, the applicant creates an application for the selected course but there is no application data changed by you.

  • Pending with Completed Data

State automatically assigned by the system when there are already some/all application data completed but the application has not yet been submitted

  • Pending with Confirmed Data

automatically assigned by the system when the applicant submits the application to the system.

  • Applicant with payment made

State automatically assigned by the system when the applicant makes the application fee by ATM reference and the payment is confirmed.

When the applicant has foreign nationality has the possibility to choose the type of payment (ATM or PayPal).

If the applicant selects the payment by PayPal, the status is allocated when the treasury that validates the payment in the Phoenix System Treasury Portal.

  • Application under review

State assigned by the user of the School Secretariat when the application is under review.

  • Not admitted

State allocated by the school secretariat when the application is not accepted after analysis of the school and the final score does not meet the minimum objectives or there are no vacancies available in relation to the selection number

  • Outcast

State assigned by the school secretariat when the application is excluded because all required documentation is not delivered.

  • Admitted

State allocated by the school secretariat when the application is accepted and there are vacancies to be filled.

  • Admitted Conditioned

State allocated by the school secretariat when the application is accepted and there are vacancies to fill but the applicant has not yet finished the degree.

  • Substitute

State allocated by the school secretariat when the application is accepted but there are no longer vacancies to be filled.

  • Canceled

automatically assigned by the system when the applicant cancels his/her application.

  • Enrolled

automatically assigned by the system after the registration of the accepted candidate has been formalised.

Online Application Management Procedures for 2. º Cycle

The procedures, from Online Application Management to 2. º Cycle, are composed of the following phases:

  • Setting up online applications. At this stage, the courses are made available and configured:
    • the automatic emails to be sent to applicants and
    • application periods.
  • Candidacy. At this stage, applicants apply:
    • requesting the creation of the necessary credentials to access the Fénix Applications portal;
    • by filling in and attaching the necessary information;
    • submitting the application;
    • payment of the application fee.

And the system proceeds:

  • the change of application states;
  • automatic sending of emails.
  • Analysis of applications. At this stage, the Schools Secretariats manage the information of applications. Course Directors review applications. Finally, the finale is attributed to the applications examined.

You can record the application information and finish at another time.

Phoenix Candidate with Portuguese nationality:

Candidate with foreign nationality:
If the applicant has chosen to pay PayPal:
Forwards the applicant to the payment system PayPal.
Sent Email 3.b. with the Request to send proof of payment paypal.
If the applicant has chosen to pay per MB:
Send Email 3.a. with mb references
Candidate Makes payment with received MB references. Make payment online PayPal or with the MB references received.
Treasury Payments made with MB References:
Treasury receives file from SIBS with payments made.
Uploads the file received from SIBS.
Payments made through the PayPal:Receives
email from the applicant with proof of payment.
You get the PayPal.
Put the application as paid.
Treasury
Phoenix Changes the status of the application to "Candidate with payment made".
Phoenix Send Email 4 to inform you that the application has been valid.
